Few NFC Offensive Player of the Year trophies ever make it onto the auction circuit, but when they do they usually belong to one of the game’s greats – that award is part of what makes them great. And Walter Payton was great. Payton won the 1985 NFC Offensive Player of the Year Award with the Chicago Bears, rushing for 1,551 yards, and averaged nearly a full five yards per carry. He ran for nine touchdowns and also added two receptions for TDs. The ’85 Bears won the Super Bowl.
This piece was to be a lot in Hunt Auctions’ Super Bowl LVII Live Auction Feb. 11. Pre-auction estimate was set at: $5,000-$10,000.
