WHEN SHOPS HAVE sales, you sometimes see eager customers literally falling over each other to get their hands on the most popular items before they sell out. That’s almost what it must have been like at Land Rover dealerships when the Range Rover Evoque made its debut in 2011, such was the appeal of this unusually handsome small SUV.
Not surprisingly, Land Rover didn’t mess with the looks when this second iteration came out in 2019. However, it brought in new underpinnings, mild hybrid engine technology and an even smarter and roomier interior.
The engine line-up initially consisted of three petrol and three diesel options, all with a 2.0-litre capacity. The petrols ranged in output from 197bhp (P200) to 296bhp (P300), while the diesels spanned 148bhp (D150) to 237bhp (D240). In 2020, the diesels were revised to a 163bhp D165 or 197bhp D200. Most of these have four-wheel drive, apart from a 158bhp 1.5-litre P160 that was added in 2023, and some versions of the D150 and D165.
