JAZZ IS AN extremely diverse musical genre, and possibly the most divisive. Many adore the unpredictability of a free-form saxophone solo; to others, it sounds like a cat in a blender.
‘Jazz’ seems an ill-fitting name, then, for a car with such broad appeal as Honda’s baby hatchback – particularly this latest version. For a fairly small car, it’s immensely spacious and practical, plus it’s nicely built and has a strong reliability record.
Thanks to its hybrid power set-up, it’s very economical, too. In our Real MPG tests, its 1.5-litre engine, two electric motors and compact battery worked together to return an impressive 56.0mpg.
The Jazz comes in five trim levels: SE, SR, EX, EX Style and Crosstar EX. You get niceties such as automatic lights and wipers, LED headlights, climate control, power-folding door mirrors and adaptive cruise control on even entry-level SE. SR adds front and rear parking sensors, 15in alloy wheels and Honda’s Connect 9.0in touchscreen infotainment system.
