FEW CARS HAVE as much worldwide recognition as the Range Rover. Indeed, with a client base that extends from royalty to rock stars, and from aristocrats to A-list actors, it is, for many, the quintessential luxury SUV. And, having stretched the phrase ‘Go on, treat yourself’ to the limits of plausibility, I can now include myself among that band of owners.
My car is a D350, which means it’s powered by a punchy 345bhp 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine that suits the Range Rover down to the ground. And it’s in mid-range HSE trim – but even so, the list of standard kit stretches into the stratosphere. Luxuries include a 3D surroundview parking camera, 20-way electrically adjustable front seats that are heated and ventilated, and a powered two-piece tailgate.
