Official WLTP fuel economy test results can often be misleading – a belief supported by recent high-level EU reports that suggest some models’ figures are up to 23% higher than what’s achievable in realworld use. That’s why we conduct our own Real MPG efficiency tests. Our tests are carried out under laboratory conditions to ensure repeatability, but they’re based on a real-world driving route that takes into account a wide range of road conditions. The figures reflect what’s achievable if you drive carefully, but without resorting to any extreme measures such as ‘hypermiling’.
