NICE TO CANNES
The French Riviera is a place so picturesque that countless artists have made it their home, drawn by its stunning seascapes and almost perpetual sunshine. But for ten years now, runners too have been flocking there in a bid to soak up its Alpine views and cuteas- a-French-fancy coves, and I felt privileged to be one of them. Having run over 200 marathons, I’d heard great things about the French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes from fellow members of the 100 Marathon Club, many of whom turn up to run it year after year. France’s second biggest marathon after Paris, an incredible 13,300 runners took part in this year’s marathon, 2x 21.1K relay and team relays, where runners could group together and run the marathon in segments, ranging from 3K to 10.8K. Almost a quarter of entrants were also female, and I was pleased to hear that organisers were actively encouraging more women to participate.
