Can a trainer fit so well and feel so comfy that you never want to take it off? Well, yes, in this case, it can.

The fit

These Asics fit so well. They’re so good that I don’t want to take them off. They are super lightweight and the upper is constructed from Motion Wrap 2.0 which means it wraps around my foot like a sock, and gives me flexibility and freedom of movement. The upper is really breathable so that, even when I am working hard, the amount of ventilation is great. The tongue is flat laying which means that the feel of the upper is smooth and, when coupled with the lacing design, my feet feel locked down when laced up.

The comfort

Hell yes. They are like a slipper: so light and bouncy. They feature an FF Turbo Plus midsole which generates a great response, and I’m sure it helps me to go faster. Often with road trainers such as these, I get issues with my ankle but that hasn’t happened with these. The cushioning seems to protect the impact force and the curved midsole design reduces ankle flexion which feels good.

On the run

These are the best road shoes I’ve ever tested. I have logged some of my fastest miles in them with an effort level that feels manageable. Maybe this is to do with the carbon plate that adds structure and helps to propel my body forward. In the absence of a spring or summer road marathon this year, I have been adding speed sessions just to experience the feel of running faster with them on. They definitely work.
