RACE
We take on some of the most epic races out there, because we want you to do the same!
LEEDS
ENDURE24
Anna Harding took on the brutal 24-hour looped race for the second time, but this time she was going alone…
Epic.pic.Brutal. Relentless. That’s the tagline for Threshold Sport’s Endure24 race, a trail running race against the clock, and if that hasn’t put you off the sign-up, then it’s probably something that’s right up your street.
The concept is simple; the course is a five-mile loop and you have 24 hours to complete as many loops as you can. You can take part as a solo runner, a pair of runners or a team. There are two events each year; one in Reading and one in Leeds. I’ve done the Leeds event at Bramham Park as part of a team of four but this year, I wanted to tackle it solo.
To make the most of the weekend, and the last night of good sleep before being up for 24 hours, runners turn up to the site on Friday night and camp over. There’s a party atmosphere right from the get-go, and it was great to catch up with some of my old Saltaire Strider clubmates over a beer. The race is often dubbed Glastonbury For Runners and it’s clear to see why, with colourful festival flags, rows of tents and a DJ playing tunes that can result in an impromptu conga or two.
