Adrian Magson
NEW AUTHOR PROFILE
‘My next-door neighbour used to buy me Agatha Christie novels from car-boot sales when I was a kid,’ says Stuart Turton, ‘and coming from a working-class household in the north of England I loved that world of posh villages and parties. They were so different to my everyday experience they might as well have been fantasy novels. But as an adult, it was time travel stories I’d gravitate to. I loved the mechanics of them. For ages, I’d wobble over whether to write a time travel novel or an Agatha Christiestyle mystery first. Then about three years ago, I realised I could mash them together and do both.’
