‘We try to keep our subject matter fairly broad, for a specialist magazine,’ said Richard. ‘A typical reader might be demanding, adventurous, sociable – probably drunk. When I was setting up the title, I said it should use craft alcohol as a lens for exploring the wider world, and that even a teetotaller should be able to pick up a copy and enjoy it. Booze has taken us all around the globe; whether it’s working on a stallion farm in Kentucky, mountain biking in the Scottish Highlands or attending the Mass Games in North Korea, we like to think we’re one of the most adventurous magazines in our category.’
