Afew months back there was a thread on Twitter started by a famous author asking writers to comment on the weird things they hear and/or are asked. Some of the responses were sad, some were funny, and a few writers revealed questions they’d been asked that were downright rude, bordering on offensive.
Some of the things posted I have experienced myself over the decades I’ve been writing, so I decided to run a quick poll among my author friends to see if any had been subjected to a similar fate. The response was astounding. Not one was able to report that they had not come up against a reader, non-writer, reviewer, family member, or friend who hadn’t at some point said something to upset them.
