Simon Mawer has won the £25,000 Walter Scott Prize for historical fiction with Tightrope.
Children’s laureate Chris Riddell is the first triple winner of the CILIP Kate Greenaway medal. His latest win is for his illustrations for Neil Gaiman’s The Sleeper and the Spindle.
Sarah Crosswan took the CILIP Carnegie Medal, judged solely by librarians, for her ‘poignant and perfectly crafted’ verse novel about conjoined twins: One. Sarah was previously shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal in 2013 and 2015, while One has also won the YA Book Prize and the Irish Children’s Book of the Year Award.
