● SWEDEN: Archaeologists excavating a Stone Age burial site at Ljungaviken, near Sölvesborg, have uncovered the bones of an 8,400-year-old dog.
An animal osteologist, who examined the well-preserved pre-Viking remains, believes there’s no modern-day breed equivalent but describes the dog as “like a powerful Greyhound”.
