Your Dog  |  Your Do Magazine October 2021
There’s lots of good reading this month as we head into autumn, so while the days get shorter and outdoor activities start to wind down, take the opportunity to put your feet up and enjoy some in-depth content in your favourite magazine.
We’ve been talking to trainer Ashleigh Butler, the 2012 winner of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ (page 10) about the forthcoming launch of her new book, and the joys of teaching dogs and their owners, plus looking forward to what the future holds for this talented and versatile star of the dog world.
On page 14, there’s an introduction to the charity, the Thin Blue Paw Foundation, which is raising awareness and providing support and help for the nation’s amazing police dogs — acknowledging these dogs’ exemplary service and ensuring a secure and happy retirement.
A consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdowns has been an increase in the amount of online training courses available to dog owners and their pets. On page 20, Alison Gallagher-Hughes takes a closer look at what’s being offered and assesses the pros and cons of this type of training.
There’s also the new series on canine nutrition with Dr Jacqueline Boyd. Ever wondered what the difference is between probiotics and prebiotics? I’m sure you’re not alone! Jackie explains all, as well as when it might be worth ensuring they are included in your dogs’ diets, in ‘Gut reactions’ on page 26.
Finally, there’s another opportunity to vote for your favourite ‘must-have’ dog products in the Your Dog Product Awards 2022 on page 43, with the chance to win a £50 Amazon voucher.
If you missed voting last month, make sure you do it now, and let us know about the products that have made a difference to your and your dogs’ lives. You can either fill in the form in the mag and post it to us for free, or go online and complete the entry form at www.yourdog.co.uk/productawards — it’s as simple as that!
