Airliner World | June 2025
June 2025 issue of Airliner World, incorporating Airports of the World, is a ‘From the cockpit’ special, featuring not one but three exciting tales of life behind the flight deck door.
Assistant editor Robert Veitch found himself in the hot seat while flying with Air Corsica to Ajaccio on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. He enjoyed an unexpected upgrade that took his flight experience to another level. Daniel Johnston, meanwhile, takes us to South America, where he seized a rare opportunity to fly aboard a Boeing 727 of LAS Cargo for a flower-filled treat. Last but by no means least, Chris Sloan chats to Captain John Baganz, one of the lucky few Braniff pilots to touch the edge of space piloting Concorde.
There are two snapshot specials: Victor Prody brings some photographic highlights from Avalon, which hosted the Australian International Airshow; and Martin Needham shares some of his favourite images from a recent trip to Tokyo/Haneda.
Sticking with airports, editor Thomas Haynes speaks to Teesside International Airport’s Phil Foster about how the facility has undergone a major transformation since coming back into public ownership in 2019. We also celebrate Copenhagen Airport’s centenary as Martyn Cartledge looks back at its historic past and ahead to its future.
Andreas Spaeth tells the story of Lufthansa’s Lockheed L-1649A Super Star, which, after spending €150m trying to get the 1957 vintage airframe airworthy, was forced to concede defeat.
We also cover two big European airlines: Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus and the new Italian flag carrier ITA Airways. On the former, Edward Paine discovers the airline’s plans for growth and the development of its transit passenger network. Matteo Legnani considers what the future holds for ITA as it becomes part of the Lufthansa Group.
