The Carina Nebula is a massive cloud of dust and gas located about 7,500 light years away from Earth where stars are both forming and dying. And Webb’s view of the nebula, which combines near-infrared and mid-infrared light, offers a whole new look at its activity. “There’s so much going on here; it’s so beautiful,” Amber Straughn, an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, s aid. “Today, for the first time, w e’re seeing brand-new stars t hat were previously completely h idden from our view.”
