American Miniaturist  |  Issue 239
We have a special community that is centered around miniatures. We are a generous and open-hearted bunch that love to show support and welcome to the bright-eyed ‘newbies’.
After looking up the definition of, ‘community’, I found there were three, and they all had sub categories. But the one word that was listed in all of them was ‘common’. Our miniature community is scattered all over the world and all are very different people. The one thing we have in common is our love for all things small.
I believe the essence of a community are the relationships. We forge them through social media and celebrate them when we see each other at various miniature shows. The pure joy when we are together, comes from belonging to something larger than ourselves, or in our case ‘smaller’ (pardon the pun)!
We have so many that work hard to nurture our community by organizing clubs, shows, events and publications.
If all of us keep finding ways to contribute to our community it will give back to us four-fold. Check in from time to time and ask yourself, what can I do that would support other miniaturists and the affiliations that bring us all together.
