American Miniaturist  |  Issue 246
Sometimes if I struggle for a topic for my welcome letter, I try to come up with one word I feel sums up the current issue. This month the word ‘dedication’ comes to mind.
I think dedication is a large part of the recipe for a successful art project. The definition is as follows: Dedication refers to a strong commitment, loyalty, and focused effort towards a particular task, goal, cause, or endeavor. It involves being devoted and steadfast in one’s efforts and actions, often with a high level of determination and persistence.
Wow! Just reading that definition inspires me to push harder while working on my current project. Perhaps time and imagination would also be two important ingredients. Pushing yourself as an artist is very important for creative growth. If something doesn’t feel quite right to you while building, never be afraid to rip it off and start over. You will be happier with your project in the long run.
Take an honest look at what you are working on now. Are there things you think you could do to improve the piece? Be sure you aren’t rushing through and never forget it’s not the end goal it that matters the most, it is the journey. You learn something new every time you create and that is what will make you a better artist. It will also be very beneficial to our community because we always inspire each other!
