Never let go of your childlike spirit! That’s the best advice I could give anyone in this world. My father was very well mannered and even wore a suit, or at least a tie, almost every day of his life. I distinctly remember walking into a restaurant the week of Christmas and my dad wore his Santa hat and we wore our antler headbands. As we walked to our seats a woman eating her dinner said, “Grow up.” I didn’t feel the least bit shamed, but I do remember feeling pity for her. Why grow up when we were having so much fun!
My father also dressed his Santa hat up with the glittered word, ‘Humbug’ one year and wore it whenever he drove his convertible with the top down on warmer winter days! I love that memory and I still have the hat!
The fun memories are the ones we hold the closest as we get older. Keep nurturing your inner child and ‘Bah Humbug’ on anyone that tries to stop you! My inner child loves to rearrange my dollhouse for the holidays! There are many inspiring articles and tutorials in this issue of AM and I have no doubt the kid within you will squeal with delight as you turn the pages.
