SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS A ‘REAL JOB’?
THE PLAN WAS to stop. Not give up per se, but to rein it in and focus on my sudden – but very welcome – career change. Yet here I am mere days later, a 25-year-old North Londoner, eating the very words that left my mouth about being a former freelancer on the straight and narrow. I may be on the straight and narrow, but as you can probably tell by reading this, I’m still a freelance writer.
The big wigs at Attitude have bestowed on me the unprecedented feat of writing my own column. To them I say “thank you” and to you I say – “HI!”
Okay, so where were we. Yes – full-time employment. Treading the freelance waters for a year and a half has been interesting. Put it that way. But it was time to start navigating the largely uncovered territory of nine-to-five-dom. I’ve traded in waking up whenever I want and sending pitches sprawled across my bed in my underwear for sharp 9:30 starts, hour long meetings and leaving the offce at 6 every day. You may think I’m a mad man, but I love it. You may also say that I have a ‘real job’ now.
