Know Your Go-Go
INTERVIEWS BY CLIFF JOANNOU
Go-go dancers are a fixture in nearly every gay scene around the world. When they’re not on stage swinging their wares in your face, they’re plastered all over Instagram flaunting their bodies and wild ways. We are, of course, being deeply sarcastic; because Attitude knows go-gos are actually human beings with minds and emotions who just enjoy the disco – a lot. Here we interview four of the scene’s finest performers.
IMMA/MESS
Who is Imma/Mess?
Imma/Mess is just a fantasy version of myself. Me but MORE.
Where are you from?
I’m from Montgomery, Alabama, USA. I moved to London last March.

What’s your look in five words?
Mega alien walking on heels
We love the name. What was the inspiration?
Drunk people in the club being a mess and always coming up to me saying, “OMG...I’M SUCH A MESS!”
You’ve made a name for yourself dancing at some of London’s most outrageous places like Sink The Pink, Savage and even The Box. How did you get into the game of entertaining the clubbing masses?
I needed money between serious art making and found it a good excuse to try out different makeup looks and experiment with who I wanted to be.
When you’re on stage you feel…
Mega! Major!
What judgments do people make about you when they first meet you?
That I’m stuck-up or unbothered, when really I am just quiet or in my own head thinking about the next look.
