Insider guide to…
DRINKS: CAZADOR
The bar where the cool, hip gay/ mixed ‘who’s who’ of the capital gets together (Pozas St, 7). Fashion designers, students, actors, PRs, musicians and artists of all sorts feel like home in a very homey atmosphere.
CLUB: MORDISKO
Lavapiés is incresiangly becoming the new alternative to classic Chueca. Mordisko (Cabeza St, 33) has become the leading club for a new gay sexy revolution. This is a must for bearded hipsters who love not only good electro stuff played by resident DJ and founder Vruto. Guests tend not to have a problem taking their shirts off when it gets hot in there... or even dancing in their underwear. One Saturday a month they host a night at the bigger Kluster club (Covarrubias St, 42).
FOOD: NAVAJA
Right in the heart of the Malasaña neighborhood (Valverde St, 42), word of mouth has been so good from day one about this restaurant. With very few tables, and a great bar for tapas its winning formula consists of traditional Spanish food mixed with Peruvian and Asian in an original, unpretentious way.
