GET THE JAB
A simple vaccination is now available to protect against genital warts and anal cancer. But not all men are being offered it — or are even eligible

THE BIG ISSUE
THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH recently announced that it aims to vaccinate gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (medically referred to as GBM), as well as transgender people, against the human papilloma virus (HPV).
After a successful 18-month pilot scheme, vaccinations will be offered in sexual-health clinics in England as part of routine check-ups.
Although this will protect many men from life-threatening conditions and is a positive step forward, this approach might not be the most effective.
