Q I have Type 2 diabetes and often find it difficult to get an erection. I’m embarrassed to ask my GP for pills to help with getting hard so is there anything I can buy online or from a health shop that you would recommend? Tony, Glasgow
A It is not uncommon for men with Type 2 diabetes to experience difficulty getting erections. This is because the condition affects both blood flow and nerve function, which are key to achieving a hard on. I know you feel uncomfortable talking to your doctor about this issue, but I really urge you to do so. Erectile dysfunction in men may be a sign of other circulatory — or more serious — problems, including heart disease. Buying medication over the internet is extremely risky — countless investigations have found products sold to be either fake or of a very poor quality. With the right help you should be able to achieve good erections and enjoy a healthy sex life for many years to come.
