Attitude 2016
2016 HAS BEEN FULL OF MOMENTOUS MOMENTS, BUT WHO NEEDS A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF WORLD EVENTS WHEN YOU CAN FOCUS ON IMPORTANT SUBJECTS, SUCH AS WHO TAYLOR SWIFT FELL OUT WITH? NOT US, THAT’S FOR SURE. HERE’S OUR REVIEW OF THE YEAR IN OUR SPECIALIST SUBJECT: SHALLOW CELEBRITY GOSSIP. ENJOY
WORDS: DOM TOP; WORDS: JUNO DAWSON.
THE YEAR IN REVIEW
IT WAS A YEAR TO REMEMBER: IN SEISMIC POLITICAL SHOCKS, DONALD TRUMP WON THE US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, AND THE UK VOTED TO LEAVE THE EU. THERE WAS TRAGEDY AS 49 WERE MASSACRED IN A GAY CLUB IN ORLANDO IN THE WORST TERROR ATTACK ON THE US SINCE 9/11. WE ALSO LOST ICONIC STARS WHO OVERTURNED OUR PERCEPTIONS OF GENDER, INCLUDING DAVID BOWIE AND PRINCE. 2016 WAS A YEAR OF UPHEAVAL, CHANGE AND TRAGEDY
{ LADY GAGA WINS A GOLDEN GLOBE }
BRANGELINA BREAK-UP
Believers in true love everywhere died inside this year, as the holy union of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hit the rocks. In completely unrelated news, Jennifer Aniston is apparently doing just great, thank you very much.
ZAYN MALIK TAKES OVER THE WORLD
The most gorgeous member of One Direction, Zayn Malik, wises up and decides to do a Robbie/Geri/Beyoncé, and quit the band to pursue a solo career. The fans are devastated, but Mr Malik then proceeds to take over the world, releasing a string of hits, a collection for Versace, and hooking up with supermodel Gigi Hadid.
What do you do when your music career is in a shaky place and people are questioning your talents? Well, if you’re Lady Gaga, then you hook up with Ryan Murphy, make an amazingly camp season of
American Horror Story
and bag yourself an Emmy to go along with it. Atta girl!

ATTITUDE’S ALBUMS OF THE YEAR
DAVID BOWIE,
BLACKSTAR
Released just two days before his heartbreaking passing, David Bowie’s 25th and final studio album is atmospheric and cinematic. The music icon nods back to his 70s rock roots and indulges in his love of jazz, while keeping his distinct space-age impression that will no doubt carry on in his legacy.
BEYONCÉ,
LEMONADE
Beyoncé’s audio-visual journey had us ready to dump Jay-Z for her, even if the cheating narrative seems a bit of a roller coaster. Whether or not you believe that Jay-Z really did do the dirty, Queen Bey has undoubtedly laid herself bare in more ways than one on this career-defining masterpiece.
