FRENCH LEISURE carrier Corsair International is to be placed on the market for a second time. Parent TUI Group has made little secret of its desire to offload the Paris/Orly-based airline, which was almost acquired by Air Caraïbes’ parent Groupe Dubreuil in 2015 until union opposition led to the deal collapsing.
Corsair was subsequently taken off the market, though it has since been kept at arm’s length from the remainder of the TUI Group – it is the only subsidiary carrier not to adopt the TUI name. However, French weekly financial newspaper La Tribune suggests the German leisure firm is now open to offers and has reportedly recruited investment bank Rothschild to find a suitable buyer. The move comes as Corsair continues to struggle against increasing domestic and long-haul competition from carriers such as Norwegian and Groupe Dubreuil’s new low-cost subsidiary French Blue.
