G-BOAD made its way home on March 14 after a seven-month restoration project
INTREPID MUSEUM
Backed by the iconic Manhattan skyline, an icon of aviation sailed down the Hudson River on March 14, as British Airways Concorde G-BOAD (c/n 210) returned to its home at the Intrepid Museum.
The aircraft had undergone a sevenmonth restoration programme at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which included removing its paint coating, stripping it down to the bare metal, sanding and repainting. The evening before, it was loaded onto a barge and sailed along the East River. It passed under the Brooklyn Bridge before arriving at Weeks Marine in Jersey City, New Jersey, where it was stored overnight.
