This Tiffany gold necklace and earclip suite composed of textured rose petal links by Angela Cummings (c.1944) sold for £10,200 at Bonhams Knightsbridge (25%/20/12 buyer’s premium) on March 15.
Trained in Europe, she began working at Tiffany & Co under the tutelage of Donald Claflin in 1968. This suite, estimated at £5000-7000, was made shortly before she formed her own company in 1984.
Perhaps the most admired jewels Cummings produced for Tiffany in her 16-year tenure are a series of iron and gold overlay damascene cuff bracelets. Bonhams New York sold one on December 6 for $7000, but the bangle pictured right comes up for sale at Leslie Hindman in Chicago on April 23-24 (with a watch sale the following day).
