BIKE Magazine  |  November 2021
As the weather gets colder and the days get darker if you’re looking
for something a bit more exciting when out on your bike then look
no further than our Halloween- inspired spooky rides feature (p.44). Here we take a look at some of the spookiest routes and most haunted places along them to give you some inspiration.
Of course, all those miles will require some fuelling, so read about how caffeine can give you that extra edge to push through the chilly season ahead (p.20).
Our cycling coach, Ian Jenner, answers your questions (p.6),
and gives some excellent advice regarding riding in the winter. Fuelling up is vital to achieving your best performance.
Elsewhere, we visit the team at HEXR helmets, a revolutionary new company with a scientific and bespoke approach to making one of the safest bicycle helmets on the market (p.50). Their methods are fascinating and make for an interesting read.
Speaking of cycling helmets, a recent survey conducted by safety company, DEKRA, has examined more than 12,000 cyclists and e-scooter riders in nine European cities. We take a look at this latest research (p.26) and reveal the latest helmet-wearing trends.
We also have Kate Taylor talking about her journey (p.56) and
the considerations she had to undertake when transitioning to a bike of a different geometry. There’s a lot to consider and it seems the smallest changes make all the difference.
