Classic Plant & Machinery  |  Vol.12 No.8 JCB 1250 Restored
I’m writing this the day after Tractor World, where a record crowd
attended, and the same could be said for the exhibits as well. This was all helped by the excellent marquee in the centre of the Three Counties
complex. It was really pleasing to see, as it was very high and had no problem whatsoever accommodating cabbed machines, which have been an issue at various venues in the past. It was touch and go with the weather, but it all came through with much understanding from everyone, and the auction went well for Howard Pugh too. Our position was in the Avon Hall with our P&J Tours Prostrate Cancer UK stand,
along with 16 quality machines on display. Unfortunately, we had a problem placing Eric Pritchard’s Cat D4D on the stand, so we moved it to be part of the Link Club’s exhibition, where it looked even better. Thank
you to everyone for their understanding in this matter. In fact John Foster did a great job for the Link Club and his 1941 Caterpillar R2 that
debuted on his stand is something special, particularly with its rare Cat high hitch at the rear end. We thank all the exhibitors on our stand for agreeing to come to the show at their own expense and to everyone who bought the Prostrate Cancer UK raffle tickets at the show. Now, when it came to the raffle prizes, thank you all for helping us here, this amounted to some 35 items in the end. However Mary and Nick Lewis from the Brimfield Club need an extra big thank-you for their 3ft high
giant Easter egg and cake. The winner, Dave Maxwell, a Ford commercial man, donated it to Pilgrims Hospice, Canterbury, east Kent. It was very much appreciated and the hospice will be holding an Easter raffle to win the egg, so we will bring you an update on that as well. Thanks also go to the Brynes for their help, which was greatly appreciated.
