Assembled by Bob Stanley, Tomorrow’s Fashions covers the days when library composers were just starting to grapple with synths. For anyone who grew up during that era, it’s instant catnip. On many of the tracks you can spot the contemporary influences – Rubba’s Space Walk owes much to Jean-Michel Jarre, whilst Interface by Astral Sounds is reminiscent of Hot Butter’s Popcorn. But the best tracks, such as Trevor Bastow’s Syndrum-tastic Videodisc, still sound as gleaming and sleek as the future we were all promised on Tomorrow’s World.
