First CPSA championship of 2020

Sam Green won the English Open Sportrap Championship - the first CPSA championship that could be held in 2020 after events were put on hold due to the Covid pandemic. It was held at Orston Shooting Ground in Nottinghamshire on 18 and 19 July. Sam shot an impressive 147, finishing joint high gun with Will Fenner who shot the first day and was unable to make the four-hour return trip for a shoot-off, leaving Sam to take the title by default.

Sam shot 147 to take the first CPSA championship title awarded this year

Inevitably the format was slightly different from normal, as the CPSA and Orston teams put in essential changes to comply with the rules designed to restrict the spread of the coronavirus. “This was the first CPSA championship shot under Covid-19 secure guidance,” said the CPSA’s John Martin. “It was different in some ways, but mainly the same - a totally enjoyable three days with a few changes to the way we all enjoy our shooting. Thanks to Emily and Dan at Orston along with all their staff for putting the necessary changes in place and ensuring their effectiveness, without interfering with the enjoyment of everyone’s shooting experience.”
