On June 20, I travelled for just over two hours down to Brook Bank Shooting Ground for the first time since the England selection shoot last June. I’m extremely glad that I made the trip, as I shot a 98/290, only one point off high gun. Sadly, my third line let me down as on the other three lines I shot 25/74, 25/75, and 25/74. The weather was constantly changing, with strong winds, rain and a plethora of light conditions - despite that, I am extremely pleased with how I shot. This is the best that I have ever shot at Brook Bank which makes the shoot a whole lot better. I came 1st in A Class and 2nd overall, which is also a bonus.
I was discussing my scores with my dad a few days later. We both realised that ever since I had those 7 weeks off (as did everyone else), my shooting has improved dramatically. I am constantly posting big scores (well, they were big scores for me) which only usually happened once in a blue moon before the lockdown. I feel like by having a break, it has helped me to be able to focus on things other than shooting (for example, my A Levels!) Sometimes I feel like a break is what everyone needs so you can come back stronger than before!
After the enforced break Leah has seen her scores improve
