1. SET THE MOOD. Courtney tries to create a mood when she’s working on a space. For the window seat, she thought about where she’d want to spend a cozy afternoon with a cup of tea and a good book.
2. GO FOCAL. Start by picking your focal piece, whether it's a fabric, rug or piece of art. Courtney says, “I started with the vintage quilt as my jumping-off point for the window seat. This gave me a guide of other colors that I know would work well together.”
3. BIG AND BOLD. Add larger patterns first. Courtney’s pillows are a quilted fabric in a larger, simpler green-andwhite print that doesn’t read as busy but adds to the cozy feel.
