Dancing Times  |  June 2016
With the sunshine finally here, in this issue of Dancing Times we preview some of the many dance events to look forward to during the summer months. The Australian Ballet returns to the UK for the first time in a number of years in July, and on page 94 Margaret Willis interviews two of its upcoming talents as our Dancers of the Month. In addition, we include a competition to win tickets to see the company in its productions of Swan Lake and Cinderella at the London Coliseum.
Nicola Rayner meets up with Latin dancers Troels Bager and Ina Jeliazkova on page 21 prior to their return to competing at Blackpool, and on page 34 David Mead speaks to choreographer Jessica Lang about Wink, her new work for Birmingham Royal Ballet, which is inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnets. Then, on page 25, David Jays discusses The Casement Project with Fearghus Ó Conchúir, the dance piece he has created to mark the 100th anniversary of Dublin’s Easter Rising. Last, but not least, on page 78 Zoë Anderson finds out just how some of those extraordinary dresses for ballroom and Latin are made!
