On Friday 23 November – Doctor Who’s 55th anniversary – Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor featured in new pre-recorded footage in an online science class for primary school pupils, as part of the BBC’s Live Lessons initiative.
Schoolchildren across the UK were encouraged to “get active and help the Doctor save Earth” as they watched the live-streamed session from 2.00pm. The 40-minute active science lesson explored how light travels, explained why light is so important to life on Earth, and investigated Earth’s place within the Solar System.
Designed for Key Stage 2 primary school pupils, the Live Lesson, presented by CBBC’s Naomi Wilkinson and Karim Zeroual, featured scientific demonstrations and ‘Super Movers’ brain boosters. Space expert and medical doctor Dr Kevin Fong was also on hand to guide an interstellar ship.
