Do you stick or twist? This is a question that I hope to be asking myself during the Conexpo show in Las Vegas, US. I’m not a massive gambler, but I’m going to try and set aside an hour or two on one of the nights and find myself the lowest value blackjack table that I can (US$5 is the lowest I’ve found previously – James Bond has nothing on me) have fun and try and make some money.
Sticking or twisting also applies to large scale construction projects: staying in the US, tough decisions had to be made on California’s highspeed rail for which costs have ballooned. In the UK the government has made a decision to push ahead with the country’s high-speed rail link despite costs increasing from the original estimate of US$42 billion to a predicted US$137 billion.
