Talking Tech

SOME MONTHS ago, I received an email from the editor of iScot asking whether I had ever used an app called AIPoly which he’d seen online. This app claimed to help visually impaired people by describing the world around them via their phone’s camera. I had to admit I’d never heard of it, so I went to the App Store and downloaded it.

The first thing that struck me was that most of the features of this app are only available if you sign up for a monthly subscription of £4.99. Now, I appreciate that app developers need to make a living, so paying for an app is something I have done before, although I always try to make sure I really find the app useful before committing to a monthly fee.
