IN MOST of the previous Talking Tech articles I’ve concentrated on apps which are available via smartphones and tablets. However, many people who lose their eyesight do so as a result of age-related issues and, if they grew up in the pre-digital era, some of these individuals can be reluctant to try to learn how to use a smartphone or tablet. This is understandable since there is a lot to learn and it can be tricky, especially if you wait until your eyesight has more or less gone before trying to join the digital world. Fortunately, there is a gadget which has been designed speciically for visually impaired people and which does not require a great deal of technical know-how to use. It is called RNIB In Your Pocket and, as the name suggests, it is available from the RNIB.
