Apple has recently unveiled yet another round of refreshes for its MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13-inch and Mac Mini lineup, but unlike the refreshes launched in early 2020 that offered marginal spec increases, these new devices are pretty interesting. That’s because they’re no longer powered by Intel, but instead by Apple’s own ARM-based System on Chip (SoC), the M1.
The M1-powered Macs offer much greater battery life and impressive performance. On our sister site TechRadar’s review of the new M1 MacBook Pro 13-inch (https://bit.ly/ LXF271MacBookPro), their benchmark results in Cinebench show the M1 chip outperforming a ninth-generation Intel Core i7-based MacBook Pro 16-inch.
