SANCTUARY LIBERATOR MUSIC 31 JANUARY 2020

Work In Progress

Our new album is… Sanctuary

The sessions… For the most part, the songs were crafted in my bedroom. I spent a lot of time alone, working on my computer. On occasion, I’d find a drum sample I liked or another member of the band might send me something they’d been working on. Once these ideas felt formed enough, I sent them to Jack Steadman [Bombay Bicycle Club]. He’d spend a bit of time thinking about the arrangement. It was always exciting getting back those initial demos after Jack had made his tweaks, a glimpse into the future, where these tracks were going to end up. We’d then meet up at Jack’s house and go through each part in detail. Once carefully considered, we’d record each part of the demo again. So many great additional parts and ideas were flying around, we’d often find ourselves pulling whole sections apart and starting again. Once we had what we felt was ‘the album’, we took our recordings to a residential studio in Bude called Propagation House. Every sound went under the microscope and every part had to justify its existence. Every day in the studio flew by.
