MINISTRY OF SOUND
Four years after acclaimed debut If You Wait, London Grammar return with a confident second that adds extra subtlety and dimension to their sound. Opener Rooting For You and the Jon Hopkins-imprinted Big Picture mark out the sonic territory. Hannah Reid’s voice is extraordinary, moving fluidly between tremulous low notes and a skyscraping high register, against a backdrop of damped, echoing guitars, effects-soaked pianos, subtle Eno-esque synths and orchestral swells, while a blend of organic and electronic beats provide the necessary decompression.
