Pistachios are particularly high in protein, vitamin B6, fibre and many antioxidants, and pound for pound contain around three times more potassium than bananas. Despite being relatively energy-dense, studies show nuts can be one of the most weight-loss-friendly foods, thanks to their high fibre and protein content. But pistachios might just be the best choice, because the act of shelling them helps you to eat more mindfully, and the leftover shells give you a visual cue of how many nuts you’ve eaten – resulting in 22 per cent fewer calories consumed. 4
