Heljan has bowed to public demand and turned its attention to the BR/Sulzer Class 24 diesel-electric. With a host of classic BR Bo‐Bo locomotives already in its ‘O’ gauge stable, the ‘24’ is a logical next step, with both the Class 24/0 and ‘24/1’ under development. What’s more, the ‘24/1’ range will include Scottish Region versions, complete with twin car-style headlamps.
Undecorated prototypes were unveiled at Warley and it was confirmed that the ‘skinhead’ Class 24/0s will arrive first with a choice of six BR era liveries. The Class 24/1s will follow, with five livery options announced so far.
These models feature all-new body tooling, with authentic variations between the different sub-types, along with bespoke bogie and underframe parts and detailed cab interiors.
