Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) will celebrate the centenary of the Hythe Pier over the weekend of July 23‐24. The narrow gauge railway has been trundling along the 700‐yard pier since July 1922, carrying passengers to and from the ferry boats that ply to Southampton from the village of Hythe. It holds the record for the oldest electric train in the world continuously operating on a pier. A model railway exhibition will be held in the nearby community centre, with other heritage railway associations present in the village.
