RICKIE LEE JONES has been busy. She’s soon to release a new album, Pieces Of Treasure, which reunites her with Russ Titelman, co-producer of her first two records Rickie Lee Jones (1979) and Pirates (1981). She’s also writing screenplays for a fictional TV series loosely based on her life. When MOJO visits her via Zoom at her New Orleans home, she’s been out working in the backyard, chopping dead limbs off trees. Despite a long history of getting in a car and moving on – brilliantly recounted in her memoir Last Chance Texaco, MOJO’s Best Book of 2021 – she’s been living here seven-plus years and seems settled and happy.
