He’s performed on Top of the Pops, the Old Grey Whistle Test and at countless venues nationwide. But on a sunny bank holiday in May, the Godfather of Grunge Folk – Wild Willy Barrett, and composer, cellist and vocalist Mary Holland (aka Mrs Wild Willy), performed in the smallest of venues – the front room of a Hertfordshire home! Combining their creativity, charm and charisma, a fun-packed evening of music unfolded, dedicated to raising funds for Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT).
Banjo, fiddle, guitar, cello and even an uncooked raw egg were all part of the superb Sunday show, which not only proved to be an intimate night to remember, but raised £450 for the Lochaber rescuers.
It was the second front room gig that has been arranged by the family of Ian Bell, who died on Ben Nevis in August 2015.
