Helen Glennie spent two years investigating the life stories behind each of the 39 soldiers named on the Kilbrandon War Memorial, who died in the First World War. Her research filled an entire wall at the Scottish Slate Islands Heritage Trust exhibition in Seil Hall in October, exhibited beside replicas of the war memorial and a trench from the Somme, built by island volunteers based on an idea by Ron Hetherington.
