THERE was criticism on social media of the Argyllshire Gathering being held on a Thursday instead of at the weekend.
Allan Strang Jnr complained: ‘I bet the school kids would’ve loved to go but these games are on a Thursday to keep most of the working class and their families away.’
Ross McNab wrote: ‘Always held the week after the kids go back to school, it’s a joke. The games are not for locals, they are for the toffs and land owners.’ Colin Cooper lamented: ‘I wish they would change it to Saturdays I always miss out because it’s held mid week.’ Joanne Sardini recalled: ‘One of my most vivid memories from childhood.’
