Girls and boys can tune in to a special message from Santa on Christmas Eve thanks to Oban and Lorn Lions Club. Santa is so grateful for all the help he has had from the Lions that he promised to send a special message to the area’s children direct from his sleigh, thanks to the geniuses at Oban FM working out how to contact him in midair. Make sure you hear Santa’s message on 103.3 FM and online at 7pm on December 24.
Oban is to host the Light of Peace, lit from Bethlehem’s eternal flame. Members of 1st Argyll Scout Group brought the light to town for the first time yesterday (Wednesday) for a short ecumenical service at St Columba’s Cathedral on Saturday December 22 at 3pm. Everyone is welcome. In 1984, it was the Scouts and Guides of Austria who first spread the Light of Peace in their own country aTher taking a light from the eternal flame in the Holy Land. Now many other countries take part and the Scouts are spreading it so their own communities can be united through the message of peace. The light will stay in the cathedral until January 6.
1st Argyll (Lorn) Group Scout leader Jeff Anderson and helpers have the logistical task of collecting the light from Glasgow to bring it safely to Oban.
